So, I've been saving up a lot of cash to buy myself a new set of drums.
I currently play on a PDP CX sereis kit with Maple shells.
The Sizes are as follows
22x18
10x8
12x9
14x11
and
14x8 (Pork Pie Snare Drum)
I am looking to go in a different direction with the new drums that I buy.
I want to get a set of drums that draw glances and at the same time can
a good beating every once in a while. Here are the things that I like about
vintage drums:
-The shallow sizes
-The awesome finishes
-The mellow sound
-The darkness of the drums
and here are some of the things I don't like...
-The bulky hardware that does not hold up well
-The thought of the drums breaking or cracking because of age
-The tension rods/t-rods stripping/bending
So, I guess the question that I have is what can I get for 1000$ as far as a 4 piece kit goes (rack tom, bass drum, floor tom, matching snare) that fits this criteria? I would prefer something with a virgin bass drum, minimal hardware (I mount my rack tom from a snare stand) and I also prefer Rogers and Ludwig over most other drum companies. What kind of kit should I look for?
Thanks for the help!
