Crow? For what? Something that I can't prove is real? I don't instantly jump to conclusions and accept something is real even if I can't prove it, not a good practice to do. I would end up eating crow on many mistakes if I did that! Have I made mistakes in the past? Absolutely. Did Camco ever make shells without re-rings? I honestly don't know but I don't have any proof to prove that they did. I'm not sure what your beef is with me but like I said before, whatever!
I'm not looking to get in the middle of the Camco battle, but I want to simply state the facts as I see them. I have in my possession, two of the 24" bass drums in question. One of them was acquired by a forum member long ago, and I have no history on that one, but the other one I purchased locally. It had been painted black on top of white on top Camco walnut stain. When I removed the badge, there was unmistakable Camco stain under it, as I am sure there is under the rest of the layered paint. Both shells look to be factory drilled, and have no unused holes, or anything odd other than being no re-ring, and a bit thicker than a standard Camco. The interiors are stained and are a standard Camco color. With the addition of this set (Daves), I am convinced 100% of the authenticity of all three. They are of the rare birds of the era I would say, and I am happy to see some rare birds still come out of the wood work. It keeps this drum collecting game interesting. If we had all seen everything, we wouldn't be searching for that next one off treasure. ----- Here are a few pictures of the shells I have. they will be restored and played as the Camco beauties they are !!
