Stedi, since we are on the subject of factory original parts/kits/setups that were not cataloged yet are as factory as you can get. Did your early 60s Aristocrats come with chromed brass lugs? That's another one with Camco that has no clear answer. Why some kits were fitted with COB lugs? When I bought the 24,13,14,16 kit from Ryan that was spray painted black, there was pitting rust on all of the hoops but no pitting on the lugs.? A Dremel on the interior/back side revealed solid brass lugs...No wonder they were so heavy and not pitted ...When I saw the pictures of your Champagne Sp. drums that the music store had, that was the 1st thing I thought but didn't want to mention it to them...Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I guess more Camco enthusiast are interested in these 2 sets,...

Let’s hope we get to see some pictures soon.

Slingalud, those lugs is something I will check once I’m back from my vacation in a couple of days.

What I meant with the Camco catalogs not always being a reliable reference source is the fact that for a long period, they kept publishing those same poor black and white pictures, even showing George Way drums although those were already long gone.

From Slingalud

I thought I read somewhere, and in more than one of the vintage drum books that the catalogs are the "Primary reference source" for vintage drum collectors. ?

Let me know when you find that Camco jazz snare drum with mini Aritocrat lugs!

Catalogs are an excellent place for reference but not strict guideline by any means. If you believe everything in the Camco catalogs you could still get some George Way drums in 1973. There are 3 ply shells out there that were never mentioned in catalogs and other products that were long discontinued that were continued in the catalogs.

There are also no dates on any of the Camco catalogs except for the one LA catalog. So trying to date drums becomes even harder. About the only changes in catalogs that could give you an idea on dates is the endorsers page.
