Hera are a few initial pics of my kits. The 3D set has always had the Rogers Tom holder. I had read somewhere that Camco offered these as an upgrade for special order. Seems a little strange to me but maybe someone out there can validate that? Also I am missing the original front kick drum hoop as you can see.

I've included some extra hardware in the pics. Along with these lugs and claws that I have accumulated over the years, I also have a spare 20" bass shell in 3D.

Let me know when you find that Camco jazz snare drum with mini Aritocrat lugs!Catalogs are an excellent place for reference but not strict guideline by any means. If you believe everything in the Camco catalogs you could still get some George Way drums in 1973. There are 3 ply shells out there that were never mentioned in catalogs and other products that were long discontinued that were continued in the catalogs. There are also no dates on any of the Camco catalogs except for the one LA catalog. So trying to date drums becomes even harder. About the only changes in catalogs that could give you an idea on dates is the endorsers page.

Yeah, so tell us something we don't know!...Lol...I seem to recall someone trying everything in the book to discredit the validity of two 14x24" Oaklawn era cloud badged bass drums without re-rings...Lol...If I believed everything I saw or read I would have passed on the 1st one when it came up for sale. (Like some forum members did. ) I knew it was the real deal, that's why I didn't hesitate when the second one arrived on the scene from Ryan.(The music store drum tech from the midwest) Now it seems they are the only two that have not been drilled or modified for after market hardware. And no they are not like the 3ply Ludwig and Slingerland shells but sound like, and resemble the early Gretsch shells made by Jasper. They even have the same bearing edges.. My God do those bass drums slay... Stedi, Ever notice on page 4 of the Oaklawn catalog with the triple tom set on the cover, that the bass drum tom mount is facing backwards on the Blue Moire kit, like on your two up maple kit.

Beautiful kits! Thank you for getting some pictures posted, I bet they sound as good as they look? It also looks like you have been a stellar steward to them all these years. That's commendable, I have a 22" hoop if you need it but unfortunately no inlay.

Thanks. Is your Camco hoop natural maple? If so, I would be interested. I'm not sure if shipping would be cost effective as I live quite a distance from you. Regards,

Beautiful, beautiful drums Bowing !!

The clear maple looks al lot like mine. Even the triangle tom mount is positioned reverse, just like on my bass drum.

They’re not too many natural Camcos from the Oaklawn period around.

They’re more common towards the 1970’s.

Does the 6,5" snare drum have additional holes drilled for the strainer?

You are correct that quite some Camcos were fitted with Rogers tom mount systems. Rogers hardware was considered to be the best. The Camco company probably never offered that option themselves but those modifications could have easily been done at the local drum shops. Your 3D bass drum was originally drilled for a rail mount so 20”, 16”, 13” + 14SN could have been its first configuration.

In your first post, you mentioned cracking and scuffing of the wrap. You took any pictures of that? 3D Moire is a very desirable finish and the fact that both your sets come with matching snares will raise their value considerably but a lot will depend on blemishes, cracks, extra holes drilled, bearing-edges, missing parts, etc...

Has anyone seen a factory original kit with 1 up that had the bass drum triangle or swivel tom mount facing backwards? I guess what I am getting at, is now that we have seen a few of them installed that way on Oaklawn era 2 up configurations, could it be on purpose for stability or other reasons and not backwards at all?

Sling99, got your PM, looking forward to them, actually we all will. I recently was sent a photo of a 6.5x14" 16 lug Concert Aristocrat in Blue Sparkle with the wrap having the black background. Wish I could share, but not mine to post.
