Thanks for the guesses and all the help everyone, my first guess was that it was a Spirit series, the shells have bubbles in the wrap on the outside which bums me out, but they've been there since I've bought it. Still sounds good to my ear.
I uploaded some more pictures, the lugs aren't in the best condition, the whole kit could use some TLC but I'm no drum reworking master, and I don't have the foggiest idea where to start restoring, or if it would even be worth it.
Lol I'm actually going to be upgrading to a Gretsch Catalina Maple 7pc kit and I'm buying replacement cymbals for my 16" crash and my 16" China that has a hole in it. I've also added a Sabian Apx cymbal, the only thing I really care about, cymbal wise, is that they sound pleasant to my ear and in various combinations. I've got a number of budget cymbals on the kit, but since I'm not a touring or recording musician, it's not that big of a deal, there's always something I can improve!
I also apologize for the lack of good quality pictures. I'd like to show the kit for what it's really worth but the phone I'm using to take the pictures is a real pile.

The Spirit series came out after Gretsch bought Slingerland, I think...late 80s, early 90s? Something like that.
No it didnt. Spirit was sold by slingerland in the early 80's too. (before Gretsch bought them)
Yes, very sad.
