I'le get straight to the point. Is it allowed or possible to add a soundfile onto my post? I tried to and it almost did it but I think it said this was invalid. Sorry about my ignorance here. I managed to get photos uploaded yesterday on my other post for the 1st time which was good.

ODG!

I can't completely advise here, but I will say that if you must add a "soundfile", what has always worked in the past was to let YouTube host it, and then put up the YouTube link. We generally have little objection as long as there aren't like a TON of them. Perhaps you might try that method!

I totally understand and respect your protocol about this, yes. I definately will get around to putting something on you tube, the trouble is everyone would get a nice view of the ceiling light or the floor when they while they listen to my rudimental exhibitions on nice snare drums! DOH . When I did these takes I didnt have it in mind that I was going to put them on public display! but found one or two that I wanted to - but only sound wise and no visual. I tell you in my own way I'm realy enjoying this forum and it's a great thing for everyone.

ODG - Get your mitts on a basic editing program for your computer. You can split/strip the audio from the video and substitute anything you like in place of the video. It can be a still photograph, or a slideshow of photos, your choice. Click, 'Make Movie' and viola! PM me if you get stuck, I'm a trained graphic artist with video editing experience. The upload to You Tube is easy, just follow the prompts at their site.

Looking forward to hearing your sound file!

Ok cheers for that, I will definately check this out when I get round to it. its just me playing a load of snare stuff but the main purpose is for how these drums sound. Trouble is Am not sure If I can stump anymore cash at the moment though for the computer program if I have to that is. I will figure it out. I've been enjoying listening to various snares online and you tube etc. so it would be nice.

A cheaper way is to just use the video camera on your phone, most nice phones these days have decent audio. You just download it on your pc and then download it on YouTube. Bing, bang, boom, you're done.

All the videos I have up were made that way.

ODG - You shouldn't have to pay anything for a basic video editing software package. Check out this site:

http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/applications/best-free-video-editing-software-9-top-programs-you-should-download-1136264

It's all pretty easy stuff to learn how use for basic editing tasks. If you're on a Mac, there should be a copy of Apple QuickTime installed on your machine already, it comes with the operating system. QuickTime allows you to view video and perform some basic editing operations, such as: splitting a sound track away from the video portion. My offer of help is still on the table if you go the software route.

Do you think this would be available on an apple I pad (2nd generation) - that's what I've got.

Holy cow, phones like that are practically obsolete here. Does your I pad have a camera? You can do the same thing that way. It's really not that difficult to make a decent video.
