Hi all, I have a WFL mahogany shell snare with WFL strainer. The model is the P-83 and not the Buddy Rich classic. I understand it's nickle plated and I'm wondering if I can weld it. I have it fixed onto the drum and it still functions well even though the base-plate (the part that look like this -[) is in two parts. It snapped at the weakest point - right on the bend. It used to look like this "L" and now it looks like this "l_" if you follow me.
These parts can be tricky to source and when they do come up on eBay they're roughly 100 dollars. I'd prefer to just weld this if possible. I think these old parts need to survive and as the owner I feel it's my obligation to restore it best I can. I don't know the composition of the metal. Actually I'm not even too sure about what metals can be welded / soldered. This is more of a general metalwork question than anything else I guess. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
