Those are absolutely beautiful !!!. I am still kicking myself for not having Mr. Corder and Son's build me a jazz set when I was teaching at his music store in front of the factory. I mistakenly said I worked for the Corders in another post in a year before it was called Corder Drum Company. He called it "Custom Clear Drum Co." just before takeing over the Fibes tooling.

Mr. Corder's son Ken and I went to Jr High and High school school together. I still have and use a Fibes/Corder single bass drum pedal they gave me to try out in 1978 or 79. I bought my first decent set of drums from him in 1971, "Ludwig Hollywood" set. He chose the Silver Sparkle for me.

They were, and are fine people. I think Don Corder still makes drum lugs and hi end snare drums for another company now. In Nashville I believe.

Here is my "big brother" green Fibes kit to the Bop Fibes. Top quality Jasper shells and great hardware. They sound great live and recorded.

@ Bermuda- So, can we definitively say that all wood shell Corders were made of maple or was there Jasper shells being produced then as well? These little drums are so heavy and with such a beautiful, rich grain- it almost makes me think something other than maple. Thanks much

I was told that they're maple Jasper shells, I don't remember if Corder offered birch. Don Corder still sells tube lugs and other stuff, he may remember what the company did in the '80s. [email][email protected][/email]

As I understood it the shells were the same Jasper formulation found with Gretsch shells; maple and gumwood.

The reason I ask is the density just seems more than my other 100% maple shell drums- it's got to be a composite like you are saying. I am so pleased with this kit- just 100% quality. Thanks for all your input and info everybody.
