Cymbal Gurus.....HELP! Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi, Folks

I am not a cymbal guy really, so I'm not well versed on vintage cymbals. Can you tell from the photos what this cymbal might be? I can see no markings at all (unless the stamp is so faint, I can't see it). There are very stylized handwritten markings under the bell. It's rather heavy and 16 inch diameter.

I would appreciate any help identifying it. It was part of a 1940's drum set and used as a ride cymbal. Thanks very much!

its most likely a valvable cym..

However take it outside in natural light and look about 2" in from the outter ring...theres a stamp there...most likely it has a moon and sickle with some stars.....(its most likely a constaninople cym)..

take a pic and weight it as well (grams)..

That's an -early- K! K. Zildjian used to sign off on all the early ones under the bell. If it's in good condition, you could trade that one in for a second family car.

Nice find!

Thanks for the help you guys! I'll continue to look for a stamp. When I saw that signature under the bell, I thought "K" but wasn't sure. If the stamp is nowhere to be seen, perhaps the cymbal was cut down from a larger size? Did Zildjian ever not stamp a cymbal? This cymbal has quite a nice "ping" to it.

Thanks again for the help.

If it's an old K, that cymbal is going to be dry, have a dark wash, good stick/ping and be slightly trashy sounding... classic K sound.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an Ajaha, as I can find no stamp- just the signature. Not a "K" but still a cool little 15" "ride" cymbal. Thanks!

It is a fairly heavy cymbal and has a distinct "ping" to it. No wash to speak of.
