Depressing day Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I guess the inevitable can't be avoided. Today I wake up find a B-day card on the counter before I leave for work with 60 written all over it, yesterday I get B-day cards in the mail saying Happy 60th, (what on earth can you be happy about on a 60 b day?) Every forum I'm resistered on sends me happy b day message. Why not just say happy b day, do we have to put it in neon lights?. I'm playing in a band where the other guys are 20 years younger, at practice last night, I killed it, playing like it was my last dance. I can't help but think of when the time will come when I'll have to put my sticks down, (I can't bare the thought)

sorry, I guess I'll just go sit in my wheel chair now and read my AARP magazine and shut up. Violin

You never put your sticks down, when the young guns don't need you anymore, start a Senior Band, call em the Groan-Ups! Being close to 60 myself and playing with 40 year olds, I tell em their not to far behind!

Happy Birthday!!

That's a hell of an attitude to put upon yourself. You determine the joy you live within. I have a strong suspicion that you are a much more fun-loving and joy-filled guy. I've been at this drumming thing since I was two years old (seriously). I just turned 50. I've drummed in a wheelchair after surgery. I've drummed with just my left arm after having the right one shattered. blah blah blah etc etc etc The point is, you keep drumming ... no matter what. Don't allow the PERCEIVED negative things to steal the joy from your life.

For the short time that I've read your posts here, you strike me as a neato whizzy sparklemondo gigglefest. So, make your choice and proceed.

... and for the record, happy birthday.Cool1

don't let it get you down. you have a lifetime of drum memories. I started playing again at 50 after not playing since I was 18. I am enjoying the time i do have. . . James

Happy birthday. Actually, i find it inspiring that you play with younger musicians. Remember this: old people get to away with more antics!

I'm about to turn 30 and all I keep hearing from family and friends is "you're about to be an old man." People say you're only as young as you feel.

Happy B-day, youngster! (Oh, to be 60 again.) I'll be 70 in about 4 months. When I jam with old friends, and new younger friends, I feel I'm playing better than ever. I usually leave the session thinking, "We sounded good today and I played really well!" At this age, I'm just havin' FUN! I guess it's no inhibitions.
