Sure, i'll include a link below! Like I said, I have had two people tell me they have owned kits from 1961 that have these same hoops. Mine is a 1962. They are not Gretsch hoops as the toms would have been 5 lug, not 6 like mine. Any info would help!

The older gentleman that I bought them off never changed a thing but the bass drum batter head. I doubt he would have never changed the heads but decided to change all the hoops to an expensive upgrade?

I am considering not selling these now because I am beginning to believe these may be some rare late 61 to early 62 Slingerland die cast hoops?!

Hope someone can help me out on this!

Mike, all I can offer is this I have had several kits in this time frame they had the brass stick saver hoops, I have never heard the claim of this particular year model having diecast hoops, aftermarket diecast hoops are readily available. you could send a pm to Mark Cooper and ask him?

Despite what you have heard or been told, Slingerland never offered diecast rims on their drums. They were pretty proud of their Stick Savers. Those could be Gretsch rims as I believe only their 12" tom had a five hole rim. Nice to see they are on the single ply snare as well! How do they sound?

If the original owner bought these from a local dealer the rims could have been swapped out to someone who wanted them on a Gretsch kit they were buying. Stranger things happened, "back in the day".

The snare drum is a radio king not an artist model just for clarifaction.

As previously stated, Slingerland had a good thing with their "rim shot counterhoop", AKA "Stick Saver". Slingerland never offered die-cast hoops. Gretsch's die-cast hoop, for many decades, had a very distinctive profile. The hoops on this Slingerland kit are certainly not vintage Gretsch. Come to think of it, other than Gretsch, what other die-cast hoops where available in the early 60's. With all due respect to the original owner, these are not OEM hoops.

Well I guess the mystery will continue! I'm not surprised they are not Slingerland seeing I have never seen an option for die cast in any Slingerland catalog. But I also do know this man did not change these hoops seeing how surprised he was when I took the floor tom batter head off and he stated "that's the first time that head has been off that drum".

I have also had numerous Gretsch kits with die cast hoops and I agree these are not Gretsch. The snare gates in the snare hoops are very large and rectangular compared to Gretsch's small, almost oval openings.

I do however find it interesting that two Slingerland owners have contacted me saying their kits had the same die cast hoops in 1961 though.

For now they will remain on eBay. If anyone on here is interested in them, contact me and we can work out an "off eBay" deal.

Slingerland Sticksaver hoops are often mistaken for die cast hoops by the uninitiated.. (Be they brass or steel )... Just take a look on Ebay on any day.

In this instance it is possible that the retailer of the day had some option to swap out the original hoops.

Personally I would never have considered that option. whilst I do like die casts on some drums.. The Sticksavers reign supreme on each of my Slingerlands..., a better rimshot and resonance than any die cast can offer.
