Very sorry to hear this, sometimes the love of music is a strange beast.I'll drink a beer every once in a blue moon but that is it. Just use your own band make it a short playlist and invite true friends,.Then a have true house warming with whom cares about you and your family.

Sounds to me like a classic case of too many morons spoiling the broth. If I were planning a party like this with a bunch of bands I would say. Here's the kit we're using, bring your own cymbals and snare if you like. Here's the amps you'll be using. You're a musician - improvise! Make do with what's available to you. It's not Lollapalooza, it's a house warming. We're going to have fun damn it! Play whatever songs you like. It's just for fun.

That being said, I can't see myself ever organizing a party on that scale. Best I could manage would be a BBQ and an acoustic jam sesh. Maybe a pot of chili, a few hot dogs, some beers, maybe some steaks. Some burgers? You never know, there might even be some chicken wings. And my own particular vice - Ribs ;) But I digress. My neighbors would hogtie me and ride me out of town on a rail if I played too loud.

Man Vinny this is sad to read. So sorry things went down like this. Your very generous to think of everyone enough to invite them into your new home for a celebration. A shame they spoiled it all. Maybe a small bash for close family and a few friends? Have a informal jam and enjoy!! Don't invite the first party poopers!!! :)

Ooops that's not good. Sorry to read that but as jag hog said, just hire a band to play and maybe stow away some backline ready for any impromptu jamming that might take place later in the night. You could still do that with the booze you have left.

Nah. not happening. Way too dissapointed to even try again. Its funny but what Chromeo recommended was exactly what we planned, We wanted everybody to be part of the thing, We had schedules, time frames for brakes, tunning and the switching of cymbals, pedals and snares which I provided...I have a huge array of them and even like that It didnt work. Maybe its the LA way. Where everybody is a star on their own mind...

On the brighter side, your Christmas card list is much shorter this year. When a few people in a group have an outbreak of "All About ME!" syndrome, it can, and usually does, turn everyone elses fun into nothing but heartache. Congratulations of the new house.
