> Well yeah... but what fun is that?
Sure, it can be a ton of fun... when it's not -your- money being thrown down the hole. After he buys; lugs. hoops, heads, leg mounts, spurs, claws. T-rods, tom holder, and he refinishes the shells, he'll be in for more than $350 if he catches a few deals along the way. For $350 you can get a pretty decent MIJ kit ready to play right out of the box. He'll -never- get his money back if 6 months down the road he decides to sell them
>I guess you can hire someone to play gigs for you to.
My wife spent some time sailing the Caribbean for several years. On one occasion she hired a local to carry some boxes for her to a hotel she was staying at. The guy asked for one dollar as compensation. She asked him to return in an hour which he did. When he showed up, there was another guy with him. She asked him, 'who is he?' Turns out, he had paid the other guy a quarter to carry the boxes for him! He pocketed the other .75 cents for doing nothing but supervising. You bet! If I could find another drummer willing to do a paying gig for .25 cents on the dollar, I'll 'supervise!'
> wouldn't pay anything like $40 for them... maybe yard sale money like $10 or $15.
Me neither, but I didn't want to insult the guy or make him feel bad so I 'mercifully,' so as not be too harsh, padded my price.
