Fake dynasonic ? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Morning Guys and gals.

New to the forum.

I recently purchased a late 60s Rogers Holiday kit in beautiful BDP

What I believe to be the buddy rich celebrity outfit 22/13/16 with a second cymbal arm mount.

The drums are immaculate. He said he polished them after every show.

Ive never owned a wooden dyna before so I dont know much about them. I put the snare on ebay and have had a good amount of interest and offers.

However a potential buyer just pointed out he believes the snare to be a fake, citing the finish on the inside of the shell is not dark enough, the bridge is not original, and the drum is just overall too clean. He said if I could convince him it was real, he would buy it.

I contacted the original owner and he said he could provide photos of him playing the kit and snare in the 70s and 80s and that he never made any modifications.

Here is the link, there is another one exactely like it listed for nearly double the price. Any thoughts or comments would be very helpful!

Thanks again !

To me as well. In the past if I had ever mistakenly listed a replica/fake or otherwise modified item I would usually get a few messages quickly. And with nearly 250 viewers on 30 watchers on the snare I just wanted confirmation of what I am 99 percent sure of.

Just how crooked is that oval badge?

Shell looks real. 15--- serial puts it in later 68. Find some in that serial range and compare.

Comparing with many of those currently listed at higher prices on ebay, by certain sellers, wont work. Many of those drums are suspect just because of who is selling them. At least suspect by me. Once a person has tried to pass a fake, no drum can really be trusted to be "original,"

Agreed. And I know who you are referring to.

The main concern the potential buyer had was that the shell did not have the darker stain that some of the other dynas do.

The badge is not as crooked as it looks in the photo. I had the drum sitting on a chair. I'll take a couple up close photos.

I think if you're keeping the set, you'd be nuts to sell the matching dyna.

That's what I was thinking, Rich.

I wasn't planning on keeping the matching kit, essential I purchased the kit because it came with a set of old turkish Ks including a 24 Ride

drumbum55!

Looks absolutely REAL to me. I have two wood Dynasonics, both WMP: A 1967 and a 1968. The 1968 is NEAR MINT and I am only the second owner. I have had this drum for close to 12 years now. I want to attach a pic because "it can't be real, it's too clean" , is a ridiculous comment. In addition, your interior "color" is spot on correct. The drum I am showing here is EXACTLY the same color/wood as yours based on the pics. By the way, it's not a "bridge", nor is it a "ladder"... but it IS called a snare frame!

I gig my 1967 WMP Dynasonic 99.9% of the time, and whereas it's a little more "yellowed" than the one I'm showing here, they are identical in every other aspect. Based on your pics.. ( excellent by the way! ) .. your BDP Dynasonic is quite real! Show your prospective buyer this pic!

If this were WMP in that condition, I would have locked in that Buy It Now price in a second. The badge still looks crooked in the close-ups, but there's no sign of redrilling or tampering, so it must have come from the factory like that.
