If this were WMP in that condition, I would have locked in that Buy It Now price in a second. The badge still looks crooked in the close-ups, but there's no sign of redrilling or tampering, so it must have come from the factory like that.[Attachment: 66492]Mike

I agree. I think the guy is attempting to beat you up enough to get a lessor price.

I DO think it's a shame breaking up a kit, but then that's not what you asked about.

What were you looking to get for the kit?

Sonor SQ2 10 14 18 American Walnut
L.A. Camco 12 14 18 Moss Green
Gretsch Round Badge 12 14 18 w/snare Champagne
Gretsch Round Badge 12 14 20 w/snare Burgundy

I have a question. Not really related to the OP's situation just more of an observation on dyna's in general. On Tommys snare I see the tension screw of the snare frame on the strainer side with proper end plate. On the drum in question and many others I see on eBay the tension screw and plate is often on the butt side. Is this just a matter of preference or is it just put back together backwards? Or do some actually go together like this? I never had a dyna (yet~!) but do hope to get one some day. This is just one of those things I've been seeing and wonder about. Sorry to get off track here.

BTW Drumbum welcome to VDF and that's a real beauty of a dyna you have there. I've been watching it on eBay too. Great price too.

The TAS.. ( tension adjustment screw ) .. should be on the throw/strainer side. That is OEM. I have also seen it butt side, but that is incorrect, and most certainly because of being reassembled wrong. Will it still function butt side? But of course!... but that's not where it was intended/designed to be located.

I have an early 80s Dyna-Sonic with a crooked badge. I also have the consecutive serial number identical Dyna-Sonic built on the same bench, on the same day, and it is straight.

By the way, I also think your price is extremely fair for a drum in the condition yours is in. Good luck on it.

Thank you Tommy! I thought that might be the case. But had been wondering if there was a difference in snare assys. Thanks for clearing that up for me!! :)

Thanks guys! Everyone has been great and I really appreciate the help. As far as breaking up the kit and snare, if this listing doesnt work out I was planning on pairing it back up with the kit and listing or lowering just a touch and trying an auction style format.

Be sure to make good use of "Reserve." Don't get yourself hurt in an open auction format.

Hi,

Could you post a photo of the bearing edge from the outside, showing where the wrap is trimmed at the edge? Can you show a photo of the wrap seam? Can you show a closeup of the grommet from the inside of the drum?

Thanks very much...
