I don't know if this topic has been covered before but - what are your favorite heads? I am playing a 1966 ludwig kit with Evans EC2 batter heads and Evans onyx resonant head. I am due for a change and not sure what to try. What combination do you like to use for this type of set ? Thanks!
I use Remo Ambassador Weatherking Coated for batters and Remo Ambassador Hazy on resonants for my 60's Rogers. Sound terrific.

if those were mine, I go with Ludwig mediums or heavys, or remo coated ambassadors top and bottom.

On my 70`s Ludwig Mach kit, I use Remo coated emperors for batters and Remo coated ambassadors for reso`s...This combination sounds killer on this kit...
Every kit is different though...

Remo coated Ambassador batters over Remo clear Diplomat resonants sound great on three of my Slingerland kits. No tape required.

What Mike said! Coated Ambassadors never let you down!
I use Aquarian American vintage almost exclusively apart from the odd calf head now and then. They work for me
