What a neat story! You've got some excellent history right there. I'm sure your father in law has plenty of great stories to tell of his time on the MD show back in the day. Just last week I watched a clip of KISS on the MD show. After KISS played their song Gene came over in full dress to talk with Mike and the other guest. No one knew quite what to make of him... Hilarious stuff.

Best wishes with the sale if he does decide to go that route. Thanks for sharing the story and pictures.

Is Bob still teaching? I know he was for years and I always regretted not taking some lessons from him. Fill me in

wow! thanks for all the nice compliments. This was my father-in-laws idea to perhaps sell it.He doesn't need the money in particular at this time.He was jokingly telling me just last night he has toprepare for dying, but He's doing well and still playingin a swing big-band at 86 years young!I told him to the right buyer it could be worth a couplethousand and he thinks that's cool.thanks for looking and commenting everyone. He's got 100 pictures of guests from the show in hisbasement on the walls and they are a treat to look at.He even has that original drum head used on the show.

Great story! -and a very nice cymbal as well.

I bet there are quite a number of cymbals out there who people claim once was owned by Krupa. After all, how hard is it to punch two letters on a cymbal? -This one however, -with the story to back it up......I hope you get good money for this one :)

Actually,it IS hard to " punch two letters on a cymbal"

It was discussed on Cymbalholic.com once, and they said it had to be done during a certain part of the process in the making of the cymbal.

You couldn't do it after the cymbal was made,as it would break if you tried.

He is!

He's had many successful students through the years too.

e.g., Jamie Haddad who played on one of the Weather Report albums.

That's a young Steve Allan playing the piano. All-star comedian and excellent jazz musician as well. Steve composed a lot of stuff. Very creative, prolific man.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

wow what a time line for music and drummers this is way cool hope it sells well for your dad ...

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
