MAGAZINE THAT IS

Sorry if I mislead anyone.....but I'm pretty excited to have found this Aug. 1938 edition of Metronome Magazine with Mr. Gladstone on the cover.

I was not looking for it - I was in a second hand record store and it was sitting on some boxes with a small stack of Metronome magazines. I scooped three Gene Krupa, this one and a Jimmy Dorsey.

It' s all the "Gladstone" vintage item I can afford.......with the snare drums going for tens of thousands of dollars I'm pretty much out of the loop for obtaining one.

But, I'm very happy with this little find.

Dude that is stick, amazing what anyone can find just walking into a thrift store. I need to do some more thrift store shopping.

That's really cool. Duotone printing at it's best. Being a old printer for 34+ years I really dig seeing old mags like this. Nice find.

'm kind of afraid to read them....don't want to damage anything. They're over 70yrs. old.

I'm going back there tomorrow. I was so happy about finding the Gladstone magazine, and after scooping the Krupa ones, I didn't really take a good look what at what else was there.

Great find!!!...I found a Leedy color brocheur from the 30,s in a bait n tackle shop in with a bunch of old comic books....I took the comics too.

That kind of stuff is something I would love to put under a glass case next to a wall in my Drum Room just put together a trip through drumming history. That with some Buddy Rich photos and flyers would be cool.

GREAT find Gary!

I found 4 -1920's-30's Selmer sax catalogs once in a antique shop for $16.....

Flipped them on eBay for close to $500!

The right guy could pay big $$$ for your zines........

That was a great find for you! Those finds are getting more scarce as time goes on and shows like Am & Can Pickers, Pawn Shop and Antique shows flood the media. But, every once in a while they still do show up.

I'd have no trouble parting with the magazines in the future - to the right buyer, but it would be hard for me to part with the Gladstone Cover. It's going with my Gladstone (LangPercussion) drum and Chet's books - in a little shrine in the drum room - a useible shrine....I'll be playing the drum.
