Gretsch 60's round badge drum kit Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

Just gauging interest in my silver sparkle Gretsch 60's kit: I am looking to sell the entire kit as a package inclusive of all hardware, cymbals, cases, pedals etc. Their are 2 rack toms, (I believe 12" & 13"), 16" floor tom and 24" bass drum which I believe was from the late 50's. All Gretsch drums have the silver interiors with round badges. The rack toms were converted to utilize Tama hardware in the 70's so there are additional holes in the rack toms only, (the rack toms have Tama mounting hardware attached). The kit includes a COB Pearl snare drum from the early 70's as well. There are multiple cymbals, mostly zildjian and a paiste cymbal ...all from the 70's. Some of the drums are missing the original mufflers. I will post more specific information and pics if there is enough interest. Due to the amount of equipment involved and associated weight...this would need to be picked up, (Long Island, NY).

thanks

Frank

P.S.: I have owned these drums since the early 70's. I am the original owner on all other equipment.

Okay here is the inventory of my entire kit for sale:

Vintage 1964 Silver Sparkle Gretsch Drum Kit

I am the second owner of the Gretsch Kit and have owned them since the early 1970's. I am the original owner of everything else listed.

The Kit includes the following: Gretsch Drums; 1) 12"x8" Rack Tom, model #4415, (missing serial # sticker), 2) 13"x9" Rack Tom model #4416, serial # 21018, 3) 16"x16" Floor Tom, model #4418, serial #82969 & 4) 24"x14" Bass Drum, (missing the model and serial #). Based on my research, and I am not an expert, it appears that this bass drum may be from another kit from the 1950's. All Gretsch Drums have the original round brass Gretsch Badge. All toms have the silver interior.

Imperfections include the following: 1) the Bass Drum & Floor Tom have some writing made w/magic marker on the inside shells, 2) the Bass Drum & Floor Tom both have some minor deterioration and separation at the seams, 3) the Rack Toms were drilled to fit Tama hardware thus the four holes showing are from the original Gretsch hardware, (which are no longer in my possession however can be purchased rather easily on drum boards and on Ebay & as such restored to original condition, {the original hardware will cover the 2 Tama holes}), 4) the Bass Drum's wooden rims, (black), are not original, (originals, {black & silver}, were warped and thus replaced), 5) the muffler for the Bass Drum is missing although original hardware is still installed, 6) the 12" Rack Tom is missing the knob for the bottom muffler, (original hardware is installed), 7) the 13" Rack Tom is missing the bottom muffler and assembly and 8) one of the wing nuts for the Floor Tom legs was stripped thus this was tapped and replaced with a larger nut. 8) Silver sparkle may not have been the original color of the bass drum...it may have been rewrapped to match the other drums....it was silver sparkle when I purchased it in the 70's.

Snare Drum: 1973 5" x 14" Pearl Jupiter Chrome Snare Drum, parallel action strainer, 10 lug brass shell chrome plated.

Other Drums: a set of three Remo Roto Toms; 12", 14", and 16", (all come w/brackets to attach to cymbal stands).

Hardware: 7 Tama Heavy Duty Boom Cymbal Stands,

1 Tama & 1 Pearl Heavy Duty Cymbal Stands

1 Tama Heavy Duty Hi-Hat Stand

1 Tama & 1 Pearl Heavy Duty Snare Stands

1 Tama Heavy Duty Rack Tom Stand

2 additional common cymbal stands

Bass Drum Pedals: 1 Pearl Dual Bass Drum Pedal and 2 Premier 252 Bass Drum Pedals.

(All cymbals purchased during the 1970’s):

8 Zildjian Cymbals:

One 8" Splash……………One 13” splash (2 slight cracks near the mounting hole)

One 15" Crash (slight keyhole) & One 17" Rock Crash…….One 20" Pang (approximate ΒΌ” keyhole)

One 20" Ride (slight keyhole)………. a pair of 14" Rock Hi-Hat Cymbals

Paiste Cymbal: 11" Crash Formula 602.

Cases: All Gretsch Drums have individual hard cases. The cymbals include a hard case however the case is cracked at the bottom. Also included is a large Calzone case for accessories and for Hardware. (Note: the styrofoam inserts in the large Calzone case is deteriorating due to age & needs replacement).

thanks for looking....I'll try to post some pics soon.

Here is a pic which features the kit with my old Ludwig Black Beauty, (no longer available). You can see the Pearl snare in the background.

I've been told I must list a price so.........I'm looking to get $2600 obo for everything listed above....pick up only....not looking to break up the kit. Any questions....fire away. Need additional pics I have hundreds....I have owned everything listed for over 40 years, (not the original owner of the 4 Gretsch drums...but the second owner). I am aware that the kit is not pristine...I believe the 3 toms are from the "name band" outfit kit. The bass drum I believe was from another kit and is from the 50's (as stated above). I happen to love a 24" bass...but that's just me. I tried to be upfront and listed all the flaws that I am aware of. I can tell you this....every time I used this kit or recorded with them ....someone always inquired if they were for sale because they sound great....and still do. I am selling now because I don't play anymore.

This is very similar to my kit except it is the complete original kit with snare and it obviously has not been altered.....but also there is a huge difference in price....etc. etc. etc.

It also doesn't include a second rack tom, 8 cymbals.....etc.

$2600 for a bunch of modded mismatched possibly rewrapped pieces and junk hardware/cymbals, A/B'd up against an eBay listing of a kit thats been up for over 6 months with no interest cuz the seller is smoking crack at that price.

you'd be lucky to see $1000 for all of it.
