Gretsch COB RB snare question Last viewed: 58 seconds ago

I had a 6.5x14 10 lugger a while back near mint condition, sold it immediately to make some cash. It was the one with 20 small gretsch lugs. COB it was a beauty. I still have my 4160.. It likes to be hit. I like the fact that it has some scratches and signs of wear and tear. It still sounds awesome.

yeah Pounder, that's why I got the one I got off eBay. I want it to be a players drum that sounds like a million bucks. I have contacted Trick and the guy who makes the retroplate throw offs and he said that the economy is keeping him from doing a Micro retroplate like he made for the Supra and Slingy throws. It seems so simple. it's just a plate that has the hole pattern on the COB 4160 and you mount whatever you want to that plate. No extra holes in the shell. I may try and make one because even though it would be easy to drill my Gretsch, it is in such good shape I just don't want to. Anyone have any opinions on Trick versus Dunnett throw offs? I have never used either one. i do have my Dunnett stainless but it came with a Nickel Drumworks throw off because I got my drum before Ronn designed his throw. Let me know what you guys think of each one pros and cons or if you have a better suggestion I am all ears. I want a simple throw off and butt design like a Ludwig only not a Ludwig. I plan on getting 42 strand snares for this drum. I am excited. Wish me luck.
