Having sat behind this kit, they were fun but felt a little like a fiberglass replica Porsche Speedster.

I think those drums are way cool and would steal the show in the right circumstances. Picture a smoky jazz room with the band in fitted suits, shoes shined like mirrors, ties matching the drums, wearing dark shades with an upright bass player. No brainer. Would be waaaay Cool1 Even a beach boys tribute band playing these drums in the right arena would also be a spectaclular presentation, hawaiin shirts and all!! I've been tryin to start a Beach Boys tribute band for years now- but with a Ramones flavor- how rad would that be?

That would be sweet!
My personal goal in life is to win the Powerball, and offer Vito Brata (most infamous, underrated guitarist in the history of electricity!!) enough money to force him to play guitar for a band I started, and along the way, learn how to play enough licks to try and keep up with him! Now how rad would THAT be!!
I saw these a few different times. They look decent from a distance...but in no way represent vintage Gretsch looks or style. Thank God cause it was never meant to! It was simply a nod to the '57 Bel Air and the hot rod community's relationship to music.
As far as being worth it...not to me. The abuse I put my kits through would have these looking more like a junk yard special in months. Not only that...but I despise '57 Chevy's. So in my book these have two strikes. The nail in the coffin is I would never be able to justify spending 2K on any drum set.
