Help Dating Some Slingy Radio Kings Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

I believe these bad boys are late 30's but I'm not sure. The double sided lugs and the bottom head T-rods on the tom lead me to believe they are pre 40's. Any thoughts? Did they just use whatever lugs they had in stock or were the double sided lugs (with one side unused) standard up until a certain year?

Sizes are:

Krupa snare 6x14

Tom 12x14

Bass drum 14x28

So, they aren't Radio Kings? They sure look like it to me. What exactly are you saying? Sorry, a bit confused by your response.

Oh no, not say`n that at all. Just that thirties RK`s I see on here have tacked on reso heads and up til the fourties had smaller and a single tom. The Krupa models in the fourties had an added larger tom tom and still, I haven`t seen those with hand key t-rods !!

I`m not so sure those are thirties !!

Oh okay, gotcha. Normally I would come to the same conclusion, I'm just a bit confused by the double sided lugs on the tom tom. I've seen early 40's examples with single sided lugs for the top and bottom heads.

Yes, they are Radio Kings...

Looks like the 1937 to 1943 badge to me.... the first "N" in SLINGERLAND is skinny on the outside and fat on the downstroke in the middle............

Lugs and Timp handles look legit to me.

Separate tension, double-headed toms were on the Swing Outfits.....

12x14 tenor toms were available and standard on those outfits.....

Prolly missing a 8x12 or 9x13 to make it a complete Swing or Full Dress Outfit

Nice drums !!

The badges look to be the second type with the non raised lettering (tan and Brass) but neither should have steel grommets, and those sure look like they do.
