I was told to build a good kit from the snare out, so this seems like a great starter. Assuming both pedals are in working condition and the cymbals aren't trash.
Help identifying Pearl mystery kit Last viewed: 29 minutes ago
Go for it.
Pretty stoked to polish that snare up and show it off in here. I love forums like this with a bunch of gearheads. I'm a guitarist so I can't help as much in this forum but I really appreciate all the help and even the encouragement.
When I check it out tomorrow is there anything I should look for that are dealbreakers? Someone mentioned the bottom rim isn't original, is there a way to tell?
You might want to post a new thread about the snare only. Title it something like "need Supraphonic info" and link the pics. Many wont pay much attention to identifying a japanese kit in the vintage drums section of this forum
1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)
1998 Ayotte "Ray Era" Wood Hoop Copper Sparkle (10,12,14,16,20)
You guys don't want to see how I clean up some vintage Taiwanese drums? :) I'll start a new thread once I get my hands on it.
Ha, gotcha. Don't worry, I'm only going to post the snare.
I believe the high placement of the badge is due to it being a transition drum from B&O to Monroe KS badge. The early Monroe shells were left over Chicago B&O shells and drilled for the B&O badge. The first Transition KS badges had no serial and "Chicago" but some Monroe badges ended up on Chicago shells too. I used to own this one
I think you nailed it. I did some poking around and it looks like this badge was only used on the 1985 supra as they transitioned. But then I looked up a 1985 supra and the lugs were different. Still, yours looks just like the one I'm getting. Was yours an '85? So what did you think of the drum? Also what does B & O mean?
Black and Olive - the badges that came in after the keystone. 1968-69, I think...
