Hi Jeff,
I know about as much about Mapex drums as you do, but I've heard that the Mars Series were good drums.
OddBall is right, the price is certainly good. I'd buy 'em at that price.

Very good deal in deed. They are maple basswood mix shells, and mine tune up easily and are very nice sounding. All of the mounts are isolation type, and the laquer finish kits like that are an easy rewrap or repaint if you ever need to. But that one looks pretty nice. I would go for it if I were there.... But I suppose I am a little partial....
Thanks, Ryan
Thank you men! They are a lac finish and I thought they looked real nice. I was just wondering how old they are to start with. I walked into my local place to get some planer blades and bazinga, there they were.

No real idea of exact age, but I'd assume early 90's?
I bought a used Mapex Venus kit for $100 and turned it very quickly for $225 (drums only)... when I was ready to get rid of it. Everybody was happy. I liked the drums (not so much the snare) the hardware was very solid and the fit and finish was very nice. I put in the basement for my kids friends to play instead of my vintage kits. It held up wonderfully, rock solid.
Guy bought it for a practice kit do he didn't have to move his Vistalites around.
You won't go wrong for that price.

So, being made in Tawin a concern here at all.
Thank you!
