Greetings.

Just came across this old Slingerland Radio King drum kit.

Bass and snare.

Avedis Zildjain high hat,

Zenjian cymbal,

a couple others.

snare and all hardware fits in a Vuclanized fiber box.

placement for two closing straps. Only one present.

Finish is sorta yellow...may be a yellowed Marine pearl.

Badge appears to be the Large Oval of 1948-50 as per the DrCJW badge photo page.

info on value and age confirmation would be great.

Really a great kit that you have the drums look more toward 1950 is there a stamped date in either shell? The radio king snare drum is it a solid shell or a 3 ply model ? If you post a pic of the interior I can tell you which it is a big difference in price with the solid shell.

So...at the risk of exposing my lack of knowledge I decided that the simpler road for me was to open up the bass drum. May try the snare with more daylight to work with.

There is a photo of the bottom of the snare thru the head.

The rest are of the bass.

Thanks.

So what now?

Values seem to be all over the place. I'm a stringed instrument guy. We have published value guides!

Without seeing the entire pieces up close I can't give you a full estimate. the drums alone the bass drum in the $250-$350 range the snare drum in the $800+ range. you can place them in the for sale section and take the highest offer route?
