Welcome to the Forum. you kit is from late 70's 78-79 and no they are top of the line not rockers, and some knot head Installed aftermarket legs on your bass drum, and the finish is called thermo gloss, 6 ply shells I can't tell do the shells have reinforcement rings inside them, if you follow me?

I'm not really sure what reinforcement rings are.

There are no rings on the insides of the the drums, if thats where the rings are. Just wood grain on the inside.

Would replacing the legs with correct Ludwig legs for this kit be worth it do you think? Or have they already done the damage?

chris, glad to help, on the legs or spurs is the real term, take them off and see if their are any extra holes or what not underneath the spurs that are now on the bass drum,

look at this pic the re rings is what we refer to them as, but I'm quite sure your drums doen't have them.

There are extra holes in the bass drum, crap. I can see them on the inside of the bass drum. I assume thats pretty bad...

they are the wooden rings at the top and bottom of the shell inside the shell, yours doesn't have them, besides that one big extra hole are there any other if not you maybe be able to simply replace with the OEM spurs, the big hole is for the originals to be able to retract into the drum shell? once again if you follow me?

Yeah, The big extra hole is still there. The holes they made for the after market legs are much smaller and to either side of the big hole. They may or may not show with OEM spurs.

What is OEM stand for?

So the original legs retracted into the bass drum itself?

How do i determine , or try to, the value of these drums? Do you know of any similar for sale?

OEM- original equipment manufacturer, yes look at the pic of my stainless steel kit the spurs on this drum are the ones that shold be on yours. with the sizes and colr this kit is a rock kit waiting to kick some serious booty try $800.00 it will give you some wiggle room, to sale them.

I have seen a few of these....natural maple/no re-rings..........

Usually 22,12,13,16 though........you got the Big Brother kit........

Did they use the 5/16" spurs or the larger ones on this?

I don't like the larger spurs for some reason........overkill maybe?

I think the smaller ones make the shell vibrate more too..............

blair, you could use either but the larger ones are the factory correct ones.
