Holiday and Dynasonic, sanity check Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Looks very legit, noting the following:

1. Floor tom seam is correctly located. That is usually a miss with a rewrap even by the leading guys. All seams will be under lugs. The two seams on bass should be at the lugs just above the spur mounts with the bottom piece of wrap having gone on first and the top overlapping the bottom piece. The tom seam should be behind the mount with the edge of the wrap facing the drummer.

2. Vent grommets are chrome. No longer available.

3. Nothing unusual about the location of the knobby for a splash cymbal. Very common.

Nice looking kit. If you like BDP, looks like a winner if the cost is low as you have noted.

Thanks again, everyone. I'm checking with the owner regarding the nails on the logo. great tip.

Meanwhile, any additional thoughts on this little obscurity?

Namely, the black D-stamped part? I know it's probably meaningless, but it has me totally intrigued! Clearly a factory part, unaltered, not painted.

I saw Ploughman's collection on another thread. Any perspective, sir?

Can't see it that clearly in the picture, but it looks as if the part missed the plating dip tank but was used anyway.

Very nice kit! Here's the "D" and the plating....I think Dan's right. Certainly wouldn't be an issue if I were buying, but curious never the less.

I'm guessing, as Bobby Chiasson is known to say, it was the new guy on Monday and he grabbed an unplated D part and installed it, after which QC was on coffee break and missed it. If it works, no sweat. And maybe, you have a unique drum!

That snare drum is a 5-line (around the middle) drum. It can't have a 4xxx serial number. It probably starts with a 1 or a 2 that cannot be seen in the photo.

The owner checked the nails on the script badge and came back with the attached shots. Pretty clearly the badge was removed at some point from the floor (first shot) but not the rack (second). Also notice that the inside of the drum is in rather rough shape, unlike the 13" and kick, which are in perfect condition.

I've seen badges that were removed in order to clean the drum. Some folks are obsessive about getting all the wax and dirt off from around the badge, so they remove it. The fact that the nails are still straight and not re-bent is possibly because they thought they might remove them again for their next cleaning.

There's a lot of weird people out there.....

Gents, thanks again for all the input. In the past week I've done lots of reading and learned a lot about the details of 60's Rogers drums. I'm in final negotiations with the seller and should join the Rogers Camp soon.

My main concern has clearly been the floor tom with its somewhat rough inside and its badge that was removed at some point for some reason.

I read elsewhere that BDP is somewhat less desirable and moderately common, but since I have no plans of flipping the kit, I won't let that bother me. The price I'm paying is what I consider fair for a kit with a 22" kick (slightly less common?) that is probably all original, though with some risk concerning the floor tom (neither I nor the owner feel confident one way or the other about the floor). If you're curious about the price, please drop me a note; I'll be glad to share the info privately.

As an aside, the toms seem to be 5-ply. Based on my understanding, the edges on the 3-ply were painted differently. Not that it matters. Just noting it for "geek value."

Thanks again to everyone.

A few more shots, for fun. (Note the broken kick hoop, which doesn't bother me. Selling price considers this factor.)
