The "snare" wire set is actually a spring from an old screen door or something! That can't be original!!!Laughing H

Sorry guys, i have been busy with other things.

Thanks for all the replies. I am really novice with this vintage drum matter, so i appreciate all the comments!

From Drums008

Reminds me of an old I looked at a few years ago. I think it was a george lawrence stone kit? or maybe a gladstone kit. I cant remember. The stand looks like the bottom of a music stand, not a cymbal stand

From O-Lugs

The weird cymbal stand is an incomplete music stand (missing the lyre).

It starts to look like a music stand to me too now that you say it, but i wonder how the "lyre" was attached cause there is no holes or anything to screw it on.

From O-Lugs

The pedal is very strange but webmaster, David, might have a clue.

I tried to compare it to pedals i found from here:

http://www.hidehitters.com/pedals/pedals1.html

but could not find anything similar.

From O-Lugs

Cool drum set, overall, but the snare drum would have been considered as "bare bones" as it got even in those days

Sorry, i dont know what "bare bones" means.

From cuquito717

The set can go as far as the early 20's. The stand that you claim to be a cymbal stand is a snare stand made by the Hamilton company they made tall snare stands for low stages. Funny I have a snare cradle for that stand among my parts department. That set my even be a Hamilton set they also made set back then. The Bass pedal is also a Hamilton pedal Wow what a find. to a collector it valued a lot of money.

You made it sound like you know this for sure...?

From FFR428

Are the coiled spring snares original? Never saw that before. Very cool old kit too.

I was also wondering about the springs, cause the other end looked funny, but then i figured that it looks like it is missing the part that holds the springs.. i think.

Here's better pics:

Yeah :D I tried to ask the seller about it but she said she picked it up from an "estate", and didnt know more about it :/

But yes, it was a bomb, cause it was just an open air flea market, and i have NEVER seen anything like it around here.

Some time ago i tried to locate this set:

Thats my grand father playing accordion. He died already back in 1942, and the guy on drums died at old age, but long time ago. The drummer's brother is still alive, so i was gonna ask him, but well, he is kind of old, (the photo is from 1930's) so it would be a miracle if he would say "oh yes, that old drum set, i have it here"

Anyway, i try to have time to open the snare today, so i will be back!

Thanks for all the info!

Finally managed to find some time with the snare. The excitement is over: the snare is made in Finland:

The stamp says:

Manufactured by

A. Koskinen (which is just a name of the guy who made it)

Turku (the town) 3 (post number) Kotimäentie 3 (street address)

There was no year stamps. It is old make tho cause the street address doesnt exist anymore, :D

But yes, it is made around here, about 50Km away from i live.

You should go to Kumu for renovation (and prepare some big $ for that)

I live 80km from Turku although I'm not Finnish :D.

I tried to lookout for some nice drums on flea markets, but there isn't any there :(

I just wish to find some engraved black beauty sold by old grandma for 20EUR one day LoLoLoLo

The bass drum looks like early 1920s Stone. The odd looking bass drum pedal is a Sonor Cyklop (around 1920). The BD mounted cymbal stand is probably Leedy or Ludwig from the same era. This is a great find and a kit assembled from various components from around the world. WOW! Love those snares!
