Original calf heads, three ply w/re-rings, "polished maple" finish, 12 x 18. With more research now available, I've narrowed it down to a 1958/9 - early 1960's time frame. How rare a bass drum is it?
How Rare A Gretsch? Last viewed: 3 hours ago
Beautiful. I can't imagine any Gretsch guy who wouldn't love to have that set!
nice drums but I'm guessing the floor tom leg supports are at least 80's?
There should be some unused holes from the original mounts. I wonder if they were filled and finished over, and if the finish is consistent over those filled holes. My initial feel for this set is that it once had wrap and that was removed and the drums were refinished. I would want to see closer and more detailed pictures before saying more.
As far as the bass, three ply with re-rings would be an unusual, even if not unheard of, shell configuration. Search the forum for other examples to get a feel for rarity.

Those leg mounts aren't Gretsch, modern or otherwise. I see some carriage bolt heads on the bass drum (probably from moving the rail). Also a Lightning throw on the snare which wouldn't be round badge appropriate.
Still a beautiful looking set and I'm sure it sounds great. If you're looking to buy it all these details ought to be leverage to push the price down.
Beautiful bop kit but unfortunately, I see way too much wrong with this Frankenstein kit which has already been addressed... and that 12x18 seems a little odd but who knows...
Although, I'm a true lover of Gretsch RB drums, I can't say for sure based on one photograph that this drum set is legitimate. Most of us here will need more than one photo to help with a assessment however my guess is... all the drums have been stripped and rebuilt at some point which makes this a beautiful players kit that will sound wonderful no matter what we say...
3 ply with re-rings ??????????
Those are yamaha floor tom Mounts.
I remember seeing a 50's round badge marcher on Ebay w/ rerings. It looked totally legit.
