Does anone know how to tell the difference between a nickel finish verses a chrome one on lugs. I thought the nickel was less shiny in appearance than the chrome. The reason I ask is that I have a 1948-52 wfl floor tom for sale and some one asked me and to be honest it looks like chrome but I'm no expert.
If anyone would know they'd be on this forum:)

if you have some metal polish, try a little bit on a lug. nickel will turn the rag black and chrome will not.

Nickel is more "buttery" looking than chrome. Chrome has a whiter reflection.

First off, put the lug next to a drum that you know is chrome and see what happens...next...nickel plating will have a "goldish" hue to it vs. chrome that has a "bluish" hue to it...for the future, chrome was not around until 1929...

I'm thinking this is Chrome but I have to say Ive never seen nickel before.
I would call that nickel.

The bluish black tint reminds me of the nickel hardware on my snare when I received it. It polishes up very shiny like chrome, but tarnishes to a dark tint after a while.
I thought it was just old, It's pretty cool looking. Sounds great.
