I thought it was just old, It's pretty cool looking. Sounds great.

It's very nice! Where is the rest of the kit?

I scored a gretsch set at a local music store. I'm selling the wfl floor tom because I happen to have a gretsch floor tom,why did they put a wfl floor tom with a grestch kit?

Unfortunately my grestch floor tom that I've had for about 35 years doesn't have it's wrap so I may wrap it. WHen I was a kid an old timer I know told me to rub linseed oil on the wood. As a result the wood is very well preserved. Anyone use linseed oil(another post maybe) The snare is a max roach with the gladstone lugs. It was in a case for about twenty years. The rest of the kit cleaned up nice. Those stains on the pearl came out with a little soapy water..I'll post new pics if your interested. I was going to sell them and get a new jazz kit but It's kinda cool. I thinking of hanging onto them..Anyway the floor tom is on ebay. I tried our forum but had not luck.. we'll see. Thanks Rich

And what a score it is! Very nice! Do your homework when selecting a wrap for your FT. As the old saying goes, "They don't make 'em like that anymore!" Oh, and it never hurts to post more pics! :p

And for the new jazz kit - I'm guessing you're referring to the Catalina Jazz kit - it's a nice one (I play one every Sunday morning at church), but I wouldn't sell the old Gretsch kit for one. You should be able to get enough - or close to it - out of your WFL to afford one. I've seen them as low as $500 for the shell pack new, and Geektar Center's used section of their website had a copper sparkle one for $325 about 2 or 3 months ago.

By the way, back to the subject of nickel and chrome, look at the difference in the looks of the hardware on the WFL and Gretsch's in the last pic you posted. The WFL is a little duller and gray compared to the others.

Apparently it's nickel over brass. I had no clue. At least I recognized the value in the snare. Anyway, have you ever seen an internal muffler on a bd like this one. It's got this crank on the side. Pretty wild, huh? Rich

I've never seen such a thing, but I'm still quite new to vintage gear. That's a pretty intricate mechanism. I hope someone that knows a little something about it can enlighten us.

I've got the same muffler on an old W&A BD -I believe it to be of their manufacture.

It must have been an add on. The thing is like a muffler on steroids.
