You have a good point, and I have a ton of these drums. Look at the pic below of my "lego's" LOL!I actually have a third 14x22 bass shell, thats the one I might make virgin. I bought a third one because I wanted all drums to have the maple interior instead of the granitone. I had one maple and one granitone bass, so I bought another maple one. Now the only drum sporting the granitone interior is the 16" floor tom. I would like to find a maple shell so the entire kit would have maple interiors. You can make two kits out of this easy, but its fun to build a monster set once in a while. Fun drums to play around with.

What Finnish is your 14x22?

Please tell me it's not metallic grey.

I've been hunting for one for a while to make my own prog/rock drumset.

But seriously if you wanted to the granitone Gould be taken off and I'm sure you of all people on here could get the less desirable wood grain beneath to look great.

Btw mine are all granitone. This American "third rate" set can stand up to most any other drums I own sound wise.

The 14x22 is maple veneered just like the other drums. I tried to sand the granitone finish off, it was too much work. I had the drums all done for a couple months, I used Powerstroke 3 heads and could see inside of the bass drums. Drove me nuts that they didn't match.

Thank you!

Yeah, I totally get that. It would bother me too.

I guess with three kicks you could build a rocker version of the ludwig "no limit" set in the '84 catalog.

I play one up, one down most of the time. But, I've been getting into one up, two down a little lately. When I finish with my '67 Slingerland kit, it will be one up, two down.

Well, my blue kit is three up three down. That needs a bit of explaining, so here you go:

8-10-12 up; 13-15 down on the right; 16 or 18 FT down on the left. I have the 18 there now.

My red D-20 kit is one up one down, and I've been playing that the most lately. I got an oak shell 7X13 Yamaha snare for it and it is a perfect fit.
