Now John....don't go telling this young lady to disrespect her parents. :)

Limits are a good thing and will help you learn to be responsible later on in life. It sounds to me like you already well on your way. I always like seeing your posts as it is very refreshing to see someone your age into any thing old, especially drums of course.

I would agree with Vintagemore's sage advice. Respectfully ask your parents for permission to try these out for a bit and decide which kit to keep. That way, they know that you know the boundaries and they will probably also understand that you would like to make an informed decision. I would keep the snare with the kit as that will increase the value.

In the future, unless you just are in the mood to flip some kits, (nothing wrong with that of course) start focusing on snare drums and cymbals. There are tons out there and a drummer can never have too many of either. Each will have a fairly unique voice.

Ok, "never" is probably not a good term to use, but you get the idea.

I had a 3 kit limit... that is why all of my 6 ply Luddies are in black cortex. I can claim they are just one set. ;)

I'm afraid that if I were in that predicament, the Rocker's would be on the block. Pretty lucky to find that set complete and with no tears in the wrap. The cymbal arm on the bass drum, I'm sorry to say, is very hard to come by.Wouldn't really be used on a double mount, anyway. A true circa 1970 time capsule...

Funny how we see kits when looking around - then they disappear - only to reappear here on the forum! I saw this for sale, then you snagged it up. I have had one of these Majestics (and have one in process too) and I can assure you this kit will be one of your favorites and one of your best sounding.

You may already know this site - but if not - be sure to visit.

The guy who put it up is Ralf (username on here). He is an active forum member here and you may have already seen his comments.

That kit is Star made and I highly recommend keeping the snare with it. When they are missing, they are hard to find to match, especially in a color like that! I have one of those cymbal arms - but it is my one and only keeper for my kit! I have had others, and supplied other forum members for them to complete their kits. I may know where I can get more, but do not have any to spare on hand at this time. Yes, extremely rare - perhaps the most rare MIJ part on the planet.

While you see these around - this kit perhaps may be more rare than your Rocker. Yes, your Rocker is a cool kit, but probably easier to replace than this one. If you sold the Rocker, it would help you recoup the money you spent on this one and also likely garner more funds for stuff like....cymbals!

I think it is wise and mature of you to maintain your parental imposed limit. Take your time and fully restore all what you have and enjoy them.

BTW - (though you may already know this) that satin finish needs to be well protected. Unlike other wraps, scratches are NOT removable - and most of those wraps suffer from scratching (thus limiting their value). If yours has few scratches, consider yourself (more) blessed and take great deliberate care of them.

Congrats!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Drummerjohn,

good for you, you just gave Julia the best advice of all, well done!

Julia,

I agree, keep these, they are way cool! You dont get matching snares too often with kits like this. Sell the Rockers. I am really happy for you, you did good!!

Thank you!

The 3 set limit might work out. Let's see, 3 sets of Ludwigs, 3 Gretsch, 3 Slingys, 3 Rogers, Camcos .......Yep, definitely room to work with!

Also looks like the throne was originally made to be used at a work table or similar situation. Cool wrap on those drums too!

Believe it or else!
