Do you mean the wires you ordered? Is L-1107 the number, for the wires, for a 15" snare drum?
yes for a classic strainer. I made a post about it last week? i think.
Ya, your good to go. Well done.
SWEET!
Thank you SO SO much gang!
Anyone know the size of the screws Im missing? 1/4-20?
I will have my parts and new heads next week, then its tuning time!

Now, Im a pretty smart fella, but how the hell does this work?

The only way it will go in is if I face the adjustment screws towards the head? Thats just not right.
The strainer end is correct:

Here is what I bought:

Please help me out, Im super confused now and this snare is not a cheap part.
Uggh... I'm not a Ludwig expert, but doing a little surfing, I'm finding references to two different variations of the P34 butt. The original (yours) had two mounting screws. When it was replaced by a three-screw version, Ludwig changed the snare wire configuration slightly, moving the wires' butt-side attachment screws to opposite corners. (Why?!)
Sorry, man. I hope you can return the wires you bought.
Since finding the right wires looks like it might be a more daunting task than I originally thought, here's a possible workaround: Cut a piece of sheet metal into a rectangle that'll fit inside the opening on your P34. Drill holes in opposite corners of the plate to match the P34's screw holes, plus two holes for string you can use to tie a set of wires made for the P87 with P32 butt.
{EDIT} I suppose it would also be possible to remove the outermost two wires from the snare you bought and modify the plate to fit your P34. Actually, it shouldn't be too difficult a modification. (But if 10 strands is a little too dry for your liking, there's no returning a modified set of wires.)
Thank you Sky Dog for the help!
In an ideal situations, should the snare wires fit inside the butt plate or should the steel plate sit on the face of the butt opening?
I can attach the P87 end, then the P34 end the steel plate sits across the opening on the Butt where the wires go across. (see picture, the width of the plate is the width of the butt)
Now this "works", but there is a lot of tension in doing so even with the wires slacked as much as possible. There is no "off" for the strainer on this set up...just snare.
Im thinking this would wear out the snares pretty fast due to the tension but on the same token is it really any different then a tuned played snare?
any chance I could find a later P34 butt, surely it would be cheaper then these snares are.
I could easily make the plate you diagrammed and may actually go that route.
I could also modify this plate to work with my P34, a bit o grinding and a hole or 2.
I can return the L1107 (I actually haven't paid for it yet) so that no problem.
Might just take it into the drum store and see what we can come up with.
