It's a drum Jim but not as we know it... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Can anybody help me identify the make and era of 3 drums i.e Bass, Floor Tom and Side Tom? I picked them up in London in the 1980's and eventually got round to restoring them a few years ago. The only lugs I could get to fit the holes where some of the originals had gone missing (must have been used as a "carry on the bus" kit before I got hold of it) were Tama so I think it might be an early Star kit. The only thing is I've never been able to identify the original lugs and there were no name plates. The shells look like a maple/birch mahogany sandwich with strengthening bands on the outer rims. In other words, serious lumps of wood which originally made me think it might have been American.

Sorry these pictures were taken a few years ago I can't seem to upload from my phone as the files are too large. These should give you some idea though. I can always try and get some better pics sorted out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks I'll get in touch. Have you ever seen lugs like that on anything? You seem to have a lot of vintage stuff yourself so maybe you have some idea.

I've seen those lugs before, either here or on another forum. But for the life of me, I can't remember what they are. Someone here will know.
