Well that's fantastic news for me. Thanks to neorich05 for that. I had asmost given up until I came here. Now I can do some more reseach and hopefully find out a bit more about Kawai who I have never even heard of.

My Star Trek theme seems to have done the trick. It was only because I'd started out thinking that these were possibly "Star" drums because the lug holes corresponded to Tama fittings. Misinformation which obviously clouded my vision from the outset.

Problem solved, now the work begins. God bless neorich05!!

Thanks Green Glass Drum and you're welcome Delrico, I just happen to see this post and vaguely remember the lug design, had to do a quick search and my first hunch was correct. Let us know what you find about Kawai and Sons.

Looks like the mystery has been solved so many thanks to all of you. Having done a bit more research it looks like Teisco and Del Rey were part of the same stable.

I also found what looks like a fully original Kawai and Sons kit for sale at the following link.

Are these drums sought after at all? The price on the one above doesn't suggest so or maybe he doesn't know what he's got.
