If you like that one you should also check out the Luddys on the Jack White and Wanda Jackson revival of Thunder on the Mountain. Some old Zildjians too!

Here is Jason Smay with J D Mcpherson on David Letterman. I believe thats a 50s Slingerland kit. Check out the BD Muffler! If you listen to the end you will see David Letterman appreciates vintage drums! Nice to see these drums working!

I'll second (or third, or fourth, or whatever) that Jason is a great guy, a fantastic drummer and had one of the absolute best sounding ride cymbals I've ever heard.

I spoke to him about his ride. In 2011 it was a 19 Zildjian Armand Beautiful Baby (3 rivets-factory). He always used one ride/crash with hi hats and that's it.

If you have the chance to hear JD McPherson's album, Signs and Signifiers, do it!

It's really, really, really good. A perfect mix of instruments, vocals and lyrics. No "showboating", so everyone appears to be an equal contributor to the final product.

@brewkowski, Here is a pic of the my drums. I us a "downbeat" set up most of the time and leave one rack and floor behind. Jason Smay found the 69 Hollywoods with clear interiors for me and I added the 68 Supra, 64 16x16 FT and SK Pedal.
