Photos are nice to have.
There are real valid reasons for not having photos showing the artist, the drums, and the "new owner." Establishing bullet proof provenance of any artist owned kit is difficult sometimes. I am not voting either way.
I have two artist owned snare drums. Provenance on the one drum, is bullet proof. And no, I do not have pics of the artist signing the drum. Given the circumstances, it would have been disrespectful and extremely rude to take pictures at that moment. My other artist owned drum, has no real provenance other than the word of the dealer I from whom I aquired the drum. His word says it came to him through the son of a particular well known drummer. OK, thats fine. On one drum, I have solid artist connection. On the other, I dont, and am not likely to ever have that. Nor will I pursue it.
As for these Ludwigs, I have no opinion either way. People who have a personal connection with the seller, will know. Everyone else will make their own guesses, assumptions, accusations. One thing is fairly certain, during times when quality control was in the toilet, and poorly made drums were being shipped out to stores for retail sales, endorsed artists werent being treated much better.
