Well I've just trawled google images under his name and there is NO evidence of this kit apart from the picture in the Ad.

I voted fake just because I don't think any kit is worth $9,999 and the seller is trying to cash in. A kit once played by Moon, Peart, Bonham and Ringo (and even Dennis Wilson) during one crazy night of drinking at Moon's flat wouldn't be worth $9,999.

Well...its been a couple of days and I've had NO response of any kind from the seller. (Big surprise!) Just reinforces my theory that it's NOT the real deal. If it was, then I'm sure I'd have had a response by now stating that they had the proof/provenance of the drums belonging to Joe. But, since there has been none, not even an inkling of an "F. You!" response email, I have to say: FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

Finally got a response from the seller and here it is as follows:

Dear ludwigdrumfan2012,

Good Day Ludwig Drum Fan!

Thanks Much for checking out our EBay Store and for your message! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I are providing all of the drums and percussion for The upcoming Bud Lite Music Festival at paradise Island in the Bahamas and have been out of the office since you wrote! Let me start by saying that this kit is a genuine Joe Morello owned kit! The person who owns this kit is a very famous music engineer/producer. He studied with Joe and bought this kit from Joe. As for your comments, we state clearly that the photo of Joe shows him playing part of this kit only! We didn?t dig too deep, but I'm sure they are out there! He played this kit at Carnegie Hall! We could easily provide a letter of authentication from the owner. Also, as far as the condition, the kit is in good shape except normal wear and tear of an early 80's kit and remember, Joe sold it in 86!

Here's the way we look at it! There are 2 Joe Morello kits on the Market at this time! 1 is $15k and the other 20k, and they are DW's!!!

Here is a chance to own a personal LUDWIG 80's Joe Morello kit for an amazing price! This kit is priced to go!

Thanks again for your interest!

Well....I still don't feel that it is the real deal. A "letter of authentication from the owner".....well that's all fine and good, but where's the bill of sale from Joe from 1986 as they state when the guy bought them? Heck, I could write a letter stating that I bought my Black Panther Ludwigs from Freddy King's drummer and call it a letter of authentication! DOH

I still call foul on this one and that maybe the seller doesn't know what the deal is. Anyone know of a "famous music engineer/producer that studied with Joe back in the 80's"?? Hmmmm

Need to get those CSI people to dust that kit for prints!!! They may be able to lift a partial from some obscure area, particularly on the inside if he ever changed his own heads!

Hang on!!! The kit for sale is a B/O badge kit. The one in the Ebay picture of Joe is a monroe badge kit. You can even see what looks like a tiny bit of the monroe badge on the floor tom just under the 2nd rack tom. Totally different kit. What is this seller on about!!

Sorry but for so much money I would want a kit thats played an important role in his career, and is authenticated beyond doubt. I say this is a tired kit that was owned by a producer. $1500 max.
