I definitely think Dino Danelli stood apart from most drummers back then in terms of technique and skill. Plus he's really fun to watch!

You never get ANY sound out of a kick equipped with a pinstripe, in my experience. For some reason, many drummers buy them and then use absurd amounts of pillows and blankets to tame the ringing.
Ya, that thing rang like an old church bell.Eye Ball

+ 1 Steve on Dino. I always thought he should have garnered much more attention from the drum world of that time and even today. He was a highly underated drummer and very unique in his style of "Big Band Meets Pop"! He had something going on that no one else did and nailed it every time.He was and still is...a great drummer!

Has anyone tried the Evans EQ1 on batter and Ambassador coated on resonant for the larger bass drums? I tend to use that on 20" Rogers bass drums without any other modification if being mic'd. I haven't used the larger bass drums for a while now, but might drag out my 22,13,16 kit this fall and try that for a change.
I've always wanted two kits, a 1960s Ludwig and the 1940s radio King, Both in Bonham Sizes. One to duplicate the exact Bonham sound and one to contrast that sound and hopefully come up with a more beefy, dryer, richer tone, something that's exactly on the money and something that would set me apart yet not too far apart. just wondering is there anyone else out there with the same idea?
