Kent drum set with Zildjian cymbals advice needed Last viewed: 1 hour ago

My very first drum set was a carbon copy of that-black diamond pearl wrap and all. Those are 60's drums with the blue badge. I gigged out with them from the age of 12 to around 18. If it were me I'd just get a better snare stand for the mounted tom and go at it. An absolute STEAL of a DEAL!

The pressed in trademark stamp on the one Zildjian you posted looks to be a late 1950s "small stamp". Here's why (from my illustration of Bill Hartrick's timeline work):

and depending on the diameter of the other cymbals you are looking at over $250 in the cymbals alone. Big score if you paid $15 and got the drum kit and hardware as well as the cymbals.

Welcome to the forum!

Stories like this are great. Tad bit of cleaning the Kents will look outstanding. Agree save the Zildgians for down the road. Special gift later. Don't clean those. Congrats.

Nothing special here but I like them.

From geckobeats

My advice is don't bash those cymbals. Maybe put them aside till your sis gets together with her drumming a bit.

Good point, didn't think of that. But if you're dealing with a smart person you can trust, and depending on the type of music and who is going to play the kit, it'd be nice to let your daughter use the Zildjians. I started with them and they are an enticement to continue with the instrument.

But if it's thrash metal go for the B8's :)

Oops sorry I meant to say Daughter! Not Sister. What ever came over me?

$15?! That's very lucky. The seller obviously thought highly of you and wanted a safe home for the drums. This is the gift that keeps giving.

Thanks everyone.... All of the input is greatly appreciated.

I believe we are going to follow your advice and keep the set, change the heads, get a set of practice cymbals and let my daughter and her friends bang away.
