Okay, thanks. I can't remember where mine is from, but I think its Fullerton. - s/n 21930. I just turned mine over and, surprise, still has original Rogers snare side head! Checked the inside of the shell and no paper label indicating place you of manufacture like my Powertones fromCleveland did. Guess factory location isbased off of serial number...is that correct?

Also, has the white felt factory muffler.

Thanks.

Tommy, Assuming this is a 1968 or 1969 Dynasonic, can you tell me which generation snare frame would be period correct?

I really appreciate all your help.

I pulled out my Dyna and looked at the inside of the shell through my clear snare side head. I don't see any printing or markings on the inside to indicate where it was manufactured. I remember having a few Powertones and they had paper labels inside.

So, is the serial number the only way to determine what factory the snare came out of...I think Tommy mentioned differences in the badge. I guess what I didn't get is whether each of the factories had slightly different badge designs, to differentiate themselves from one another. Is that true?

Thanks!

The earliest dynasonics had paper tags. Aprox. the first three months run. And this was true of both COB and wood shells. The first oval badge was more football shaped, and this changed about 1963/4 to the more oval shape we all have seen. There are slight variations in badges through 1975, when the oval badge was discontinued on the Dynasonic. Badge numbers, lug variations, hoop variations, and the frame are really important in dating any Dynasonic. Seven line drums overlapped the Cleveland Dayton transition period of 1966/67. Higher badge numbers, C clip lugs, and the "Big R" style bottom hoop are definitely the marks of a Fullerton oval badge era drum.

Okay, so at a sn of 21xxx (can remember offhand the rest), is my Dyna a late 60's 5-line out of cleveland or early out of Fullerton? If you need closeup shots of any part of it, let me know and I'll take some pics.

Thanks!
