Nice example of a Leedy Broadway snare in the rare Autograph of the Stars finish. This kit was just listed and the price has jumped significantly. Anyone on here have their eye on this? Quite the drum!

That photo looks more like Gene Krupa than Buddy Rich to me.

But, nice drums! That snare drum is wicked

Thanks for drawing attention to this! It will be interesting to watch and see if the reserve will be met.

I am curious about the snare strainer, it looks like there are 4 holes filled with screws that either are original & the strainer is not Or the strainer is original & the holes are extra. I wonder if anyone knows what type of strainer is on this drum (it looks as if the strands are individually tensioned like a old super sensitive) & what type of strainer would have the hole pattern that this drum has with the filled in screws?

Beautiful drum.

Mike, I'm pretty sure the strainer is correct and original, as are those screws. I think it's one of the last variations of the Broadway Parallel mechanism.

Yep, that drum is 100% correct with the last and most complicated version of the Parallel strainer (1939-46). Wow! What a rare drum.

That is cool Bill, thanks! I was wondering about that - the snare drum that I have has a simple 3 point, this is a very cool drum.

Holy crap....this thing is in the next town over from me.

In fact, the only one of these I've seen was in a drum shop in the same city, like 15, maybe 20 years ago.

What are the odds?

"Local pick up only" seems a little odd to me.

Richie: Id say the "Local pick up only" is because the guy dont want to take any chances shipping such a rare drum. I dont blame him. Ebay's no questions asked return policy have forced sellers to be very extra super careful.

Looks like he'll ship it now if costs are covered... Figuring he's at $5K, at least... probably more like $7,500 or $8K. I threw a $3K bid at it for kicks, and the reserve wasn't met.

I need to have a talk with the wife... :)
