Legend Drums ...... Need Info and Help!!! Last viewed: 2 hours ago

backbeatmusic!...

Glad you liked the info!... BUT! ... I gotta agree with Wayne here,

Retire them? NAH!!!!! Play them!!!!! That's what they were built for!!! You gotta play 'em!!! When I said collectible, I meant from a "there aren't that many out there" standpoint... not so much a "they're incredibly valuable" standpoint. Now,

Say by about the year 2020, well, now you've got something! But until then, have fun... play 'em. They WANT to be played/gigged! Regardless of what you do or don't do... ENJOY!!! They are after all... YOUR DRUMS! :-)

LOL ......... Retired as in never being played out or moved again, and finding themselves in the climate controlled room, on display with the others. They cleaned up beautifully, and sound great!!! I'm just too worried I may scratch them gigging with them and moving them often. Cool

Never moving or playing gigs with them? Sorry for being blunt, but why own them if you can?t play them live & share your nice kit with the people? Granted I?ve never heard of Legend drums or consider them anywhere near vintage or classic, but drums are meant to be played. My 65 silver sparkle Ludwig goes everywhere with me, doing gigs a couple times a week. I always try to keep them looking like new and in their cases for transport, but nice old kits belong on the stage. Nothing comes close to the sound and the looks of a vintage kit. Audiences appreciate it too. But in the end there your drums?????

Point well taken Josh!!! Maybe someday I'll stop being so over cautious with my drums. :) I got this set because it was a set I've never seen before ...... with Tommy P.'s help/info ..... I now know why!!! It may see a few more shows here and there (MAYBE) but I think it could be very hard to find a replacement drum or hardware IF something were to happen. Eye Ball

Hi

Here's my Legend...

4.5 x 14 polished brass (or bronze) snare.

Not vintage (1994) but looks cool. Also lugs are "individual" enough...

It was included in a bundle I won from auction, the rest was Gretsch USA Maple (natural wood-finish) - kit from 80's (still had Gretsch HW).

Maybe the actual legend is that they couldn't break into drum-market

Read PAGE 1, POST #6 of this thread... there's the reason Legend never "caught on". Nice Legend piccolo you have there too!

The year of manufacture was wrong...

It's made as late as 11/1/1996.

Nice looking, an "average" sounding snare.

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a part to my Legend brass 7x14 snare drum. I need a "bolt" that screws into the bar that you feed the snare strap under:

I need one of the bolts in the smaller set (the one with the rectangle is the one I bent). Guitar Center said they could special order it. They also suggested Precision Drums and Universal Percussion. I didn't see it on the Precision site and the Universal site has a 50+ page pdf .file as their catalog which I do not have the patience to look through. I am hoping someone might have another suggestion as to where I could find such a part.

Thanks,

Chris band2

Tommy P.... I didn't realize Joe Montineri was involved with Legend! Love his snares as well. In fact I always wanted one of his "snamborines".

I will have to look, but at one time I had some of Legends original brochures which I will be happy to send to the author of this thread.
