My dad and I are starting to "thin out" his vast vintage drum collection as he gets older. He's fairly well known in vintage drum circles and now its time to start connecting with good people to pass along his amazing drums. He loves his collection more than anything and treats all his snares like they are his children. We are not selling all, but the goal is sell a few a month. He sells on ebay from time to time (possibly putting up a Slingerland Red Sparkle (1941) 7x14 Radio King this week), but he prefers to deal with people directly. He doesn't know everything, but he's been collecting and studying drums all his life. Once he started collecting he went all in. Bought one, then he couldn't decide which snare to buy next so he bought every vintage snare the local drum shop had. Lets just say we had to rent a mid size uHaul that day. He doesn't restore the drums he buys. If the condition isn't good to great he doesn't buy. Since my father has always been somewhat private about his collection we have never really cataloged all his gear but he knows what he has, and doesn't have, by heart. We are hoping to start cataloging everything to put some drums online, but because of the size of the collection, it's a full time job to get the photos and details together.
