Hi,

We hope for your Dad's speedy recovery!

I was wondering if you could help me in the way of parts.

My current focus is on 20s-30s Slingerlands and 1920s Ludwig&Ludwigs mainly.

For the Slingerlands-

- first version 3-point strainer / parts

- tone-flanges and rings

- upper and lower Artist rims - dual-flange type

- first version dual strainer/butt hardware, screws, knobs, etc

- various snare wires for Artist models

For the 1920s-30s Ludwig&Ludwigs-

- snare clamp type wire guard for the Super, "gold" and nickel finishes

- lower rim for 1920s Super, "gold"/copper finish

Era- correct calf heads for above.

Also looking for parts to the higher end L&S Dictator and Master Tension drums.

PM also sent.

Thank you.

On the east coast but I am pretty sure you would think it's worth the trip. Maybe we can coordinate something during the Fall foliage!

First day was a great success. Lots of private messages that I haven't been able to get to but I'm making a dent. I think we have been able to fulfill 6 vdf user request for certain kits, snares and parts. We don't have everything but we have a lot. Did I mention my dad is addicted to drums? LOL. I'm sure you are as well. Btw: if anyone has any spectacular rare snares in great condition he will always give it a look. He might be thinning out his collection, but his eyes are always looking for something interesting.

Thank you all for the kind words. My dad is healing but its a slow grind. I am happy to say that he requested that I bring one of his drum pads and a set of sticks to the rehabilitation facility.

I am a little slow to respond to everyone today because I have a company to run but I promise to keep plowing through all these PM's.

It works like this. (1) You send me a message telling me what you are looking for. (2) I print the message off and bring it to my dad. (4) We sit with him and write down his responses. (5) I send you back a message with details (6) In the meantime, I'll either be snapping a photo or searching through dropbox files for photos to send. Parts will take a little bit longer because once he tells me if he has it, I need to find it to snap a photo for you.

If my responses are delayed its because I am going through a lot of messages in addition to running a company. Violin

If you're bringing all these messages to your dad, I have only one for him...

Get well soon so you can join us here in the VDF! We'd all love to chat with you regarding your collection.

My dad and I are starting to "thin out" his vast vintage drum collection as he gets older. He's fairly well known in vintage drum circles and now its time to start connecting with good people to pass along his amazing drums. He loves his collection more than anything and treats all his snares like they are his children. We are not selling all, but the goal is sell a few a month. He sells on ebay from time to time (possibly putting up a Slingerland Red Sparkle (1941) 7x14 Radio King this week), but he prefers to deal with people directly. He doesn't know everything, but he's been collecting and studying drums all his life. Once he started collecting he went all in. Bought one, then he couldn't decide which snare to buy next so he bought every vintage snare the local drum shop had. Lets just say we had to rent a mid size uHaul that day. He doesn't restore the drums he buys. If the condition isn't good to great he doesn't buy. So, if you have a snare or set/kit or parts in mind, just respond to this thread or send me a private message. Since my father has always been somewhat private about his collection we have never really cataloged all his gear but he knows what he has, and doesn't have, by heart. We are hoping to start cataloging everything to put some drums online, but because of the size of the collection, it's a full time job to get the photos and details together.

Would like to find a 50s WFL or 50s Premier floor Tom...
