Ludwig and Ludwig-Look What I Got Today! Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Today I was called off of work due to nasty storms that came through last night. When I got home I looked at CL as usual and knew I would be making a purchase today. Look what I got! I am trying to figure out what to do with this! Leave it alone as is or what? Please give me your ideas! Yes I now realize I had it set up wrong! I am learning!

I should mention also that the stamp in the kick says 4006 and the tom says 3905. (No I didnt pull that skin off to look. It was like that!) Did not take the snare apart yet. More pics later maybe!

The hi-hat stand is far too cool! A flat bat base 1123-1 ala Ringo...those are worth a pretty penny all alone...man...this is just one of those kits. I agree with T, play it out like this at least once before you do anything to it. Maybe knock the dust off first, but leave it be and gig it once or twice.

Everytime I look at this thing I think to myself "this belongs in a museum!!!" The paint is worn all to hell but I can not stop thinking how awesome it looks!

Tell me some specifics to do for heads on it? Especially the 14" tom with the bottom head (skin) situation.

Could you possibly post some close up pics of the snare drum? That's a very cool kit you've got there, and I'm sure I'm not the only envious one on the VDF.

I'd just do a light restoration on them to make them more playable.

If these were an old car, it would be called a rat-rod. All those years

of wear-n-tear make these unique. Some refer to it as Patina.

I would be interested in the story behind this set. How did you you

find these? Please fill us in.

I basically watch the local CL like a hawk. You know "early bird gets the worm." I like to think of what I do as "saving drums and getting them into the hands of people that care about the integrity of the drums." I think to many people get their hands on these beautiful old vintage drums and dont care about the integrity of the drum. Just glad this young man kept them as they are and didn't take away from their originality! The people said a friends Grandpa had given them to him because he knew he wanted to play the drums. He wanted to sell these to put the money toward a new kit. Will post more pics later.
