That snare is sweet BTW..........strip it down, use some Novus 2 on the wood shell, yes wood shell, then Blue Magic on the nickel..........should clean up great!

I just got a BDP Slingerland RK 26,13,16 and 5-1/2 solid maple snare, circa 1947, kit delivered to my door the other day from a guy in Comstock Park,if you know where that is...................

I'm going to go to Meijer today to get 2 tubs of Blue Magic, and am going to start polishing all the drums come Sunday/Monday.........

Yep. Everything was toxic back then.

I will totally go buy some Blue Magic. Would that work on the hardware for my WMP 60's Gretsch hardware?

I want to finish some of these projects this weekend.

Do you think this kit is missing drums? Another tom possibly? I know a lot of sets didn't have floor toms back then.

I am going to be selling this kit if anyone is interested. I would prefer to keep it all together. PM me if interested. Thanks

PS.....I just use lots of paper towels with Blue Magic.

I used to use 100% cotton towels, but cutting them all up/buying them got to be a pain.........electricit

If I am going to sell this kit would it make sense to get it more playable at least before selling it? Or should I just sell it as is and let the long term owner do what he/she wishes with it? Help! Any ideas?

They are always worth more if you clean/polish them up............

the snare was the only prize in the collection,in my view,anyway........

Thanks Blair that is good to know. The snare is in the best condition and besides needing a new snare strand, ready to play. I was thinking I will get them playable. These are my questions:

1. What kind of heads should I put on these?

2. Where in MI can I get a new skin bottom for the 14" tom and have it put on?

3. What are these things worth?

Thanks
