Ludwig Blue Sparkle Drums Last viewed: 2 hours ago

From K.O.

You could order up whatever combination of drums you wished to. The catalog sets were just suggestions/starting points so a 13/16/20 is just as valid as any other combination. It was simply someone's desire to have a set like that.If that's crud on the surface of the wrap it should clean/polish off. If it's UV damage inside the outer blue tinted layer of wrap then you're probably stuck. There are some drastic methods some people try (wet sanding) with mixed results and the potential for causing further damage.

Thanks, I figured it was ordered this way or someone added it later. I'm really not too concerned about the finish since I paid so little. The floor is in good condition and I'm sure it's worth almost as much as I paid for the whole kit.

thanks for clearing up the size configuration, just didnt think of it like that, just dont see them sizes together very often i guess.

See this configuration all the time... Its rather frustrating, actually.

If this were a 22", I'd be interested in buying or trading for it.

Nice kit! Fade is something that is pretty hard to solve. I have a Club Date in silver sparkle with the rack tom faded to "yellow ginger-ale"...ginger-ale being the preferred level of fading. I tried everything short of sanding the sparkles out of the wrap. The actual plastic in the wrap fades through its complete thickness. Although it looks like a surface defect, the fade exists right through the whole wrap thickness.

If it were mine, I would do Novus 2 &1 on it. Put the rail back on it. Regardless of the fade it is a cool looking vintage kit. I would play it out and be proud of it.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
