From redneckdrum

They have one at a local pawn shop for $60. Just may have to grab it.

I don't think you will be disappointed.

I picked up one that had a kind of rare B/W pointed badge. Wrapped it in white.Cool1

Love the originals and the dressed up ones that you all are showing. Well done!

I've still got an original one with the b/o badge and standard type lugs and one with b/o badge and bowtie lugs(added single flange hoops and clips). Have one rewrapped in new Galaxy. Have a 6.5 wrapped in new old stock Sky Blue Pearl as well. Took a molested 6.5 version and dressed the original wood and added a badge for my Educator kit.

I also had a black white badge 6.5 model that I sold to a forum member. That was a fine sounding super clean drum.

Nice! Are those Rogers rims? Been trying figure out how to identify real Ludwig rims, by the shape of the ears, flange depths etc....

[edit] scratch that they don't look like Rogers, which do have some flatness to their otherwise more-round ears....maybe I shouldn't worry about this.

Nice score JR.

I had to laugh when I saw this post Johnny. When I first got back into drumming in the late 80's, I bought a set of Rockers, having no real idea what I was buying. I just thought I was buying a nice black Ludwig kit with a metal snare drum. I got the set home, and after several hours getting it set up and playing it a bit, I suddenly realized the snare was wooden. For a few moments, I thought I'd been had. Eventually i realized that using a chrome wrap was not exactly a new thing. All the badges were black and white. It was essentially a Classic set with differing lugs. You could take off the Rocker/Standard lugs and bolt the regular classics right on if you wanted to. The only other varying detail was the fact that the bass had only 16 lugs instead of 20. The shells were the same as the Classics with the nice clear coated maple inner ply.

I traded them in for my first Rogers within a year. I've basically been on vintage mode ever since.

These are the original hoops but they seem to be different than regular Ludwig hoops. They might have been using import hoops on the Rocker series. They have more rounded ears. Some older Pearl hoops I've seen look similar.

Yes exactly - Pearl. These are the ones I refer to as the *excellent* MIJ Rogers knockoffs. They really are nice rims...
